Bajaj Auto Unveils Freedom 125: The World's First CNG Motorcycle
Revolutionary Dual-Fuel Bike Promises
Lower Fuel Costs and Emissions
Bajaj Auto has launched the
groundbreaking Freedom 125, the world's first motorcycle powered by Compressed
Natural Gas (CNG). This innovative 125 cc commuter bike can switch between
petrol and CNG at the push of a button, offering riders significant savings on
fuel costs and reduced emissions. Priced between ₹95,000 and ₹1.10 lakh
(ex-showroom), the Freedom 125 is initially available in Gujarat and
Maharashtra, with plans for international markets including Egypt, Tanzania,
Peru, Indonesia, and Bangladesh.
Designed for budget-conscious consumers,
the Freedom 125 cuts fuel expenses by 50% compared to similar bikes. It
features a small petrol tank and a CNG cylinder, seamlessly integrated into the
bike's design. The bike offers a total range of 330 km, with a fuel efficiency
of 102 km/kg on CNG and 64 km/l on petrol. The 125 cc engine delivers 9.4 bhp
and 9.7 Nm of torque, complemented by a modern-retro aesthetic and advanced
features such as a semi-digital instrument cluster and a handlebar-mounted fuel
switch.
The Freedom 125 is equipped with
telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock, ensuring a comfortable ride.
Braking is managed by a front disc and a rear drum brake, with 17-inch alloy
wheels enhancing stability. The bike’s design includes a round headlamp with a
DRL, a flat seat, wide handlebars, and center-set foot pegs for a neutral
riding position. Separate filler nozzles for CNG and petrol cater to their
distinct storage needs, making the Freedom 125 a versatile and economical
choice for riders looking to reduce their fuel costs and environmental
footprint.
