UP Girl Kidnapped and Raped for 2 Months Rescued in Karnataka
20-Year-Old Accused Arrested Following
Police Operation
A 17-year-old girl from Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district, kidnapped and raped for nearly two months in Karnataka, has been rescued by police. Officials announced the successful operation on Wednesday.
The girl was abducted from her village in Ubhaon on the night of August 14th by a 20-year-old man. Her mother reported the incident on September 11th, leading to a case being registered under IPC sections 363 (kidnapping) and 366 (kidnapping or inducing a woman to compel for marriage), according to Ubhaon SHO Rajiv Mishra.
Police rescued the girl near Bilthra Roadways on
Tuesday and arrested the accused. In her statement, the girl disclosed that she
had been taken to Karnataka and raped for nearly two months. Following her
testimony, police added IPC Section 376 (rape) and provisions of the Protection
of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act to the case. The accused has been
detained and is now in jail.
