Odisha Gears Up for a Digital Revolution as HCL Tech Announces Major Investment in Bhubaneswar!
Odisha charts a bold new course toward becoming India’s next tech and
education powerhouse.
In a landmark move set to redefine Odisha’s digital and educational
landscape, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced that HCL
Technologies—one of India’s top-tier IT giants—will soon establish a state-of-the-art
campus and a university in Bhubaneswar.
The announcement was made during the high-profile Odisha Investors' Meet
held in Delhi, where the CM addressed an influential audience of industry
leaders, entrepreneurs, and potential investors. His declaration not only
signals a new era of industrial diversification for the state but also
underscores Odisha’s growing ambition to evolve into a hub for innovation,
skill development, and next-gen learning.
“HCL’s decision to invest in Odisha marks a turning point in our journey
from a mining-based economy to a digitally empowered one,” said the Chief
Minister, drawing attention to the state's strategic push toward IT, research,
and knowledge-driven industries.
The upcoming HCL campus in Bhubaneswar is expected to serve as a center for
digital transformation, innovation, and research excellence. Complementing
this, the proposed HCL University will offer cutting-edge programs in areas
such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Computer Engineering—nurturing
future-ready talent and drawing students from across India.
This move comes as Odisha experiences a tech renaissance, with major players
like TCS, Infosys, and Wipro already operating in the state. HCL’s entry adds a
powerful thrust to this momentum, firmly placing Odisha on the national digital
map.
Meanwhile, CM Majhi’s visit to the capital also involves a series of
high-stakes meetings and MoU signings with industry heavyweights such as Indian
Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL), Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Ltd (ISPRL),
and Petronet LNG. These agreements are expected to unlock significant
investments in Odisha’s petrochemical sector, further boosting infrastructure,
employment, and industrial development.
“These partnerships are not just about capital investment—they reflect our
vision for an Atmanirbhar Bharat, a self-reliant and sustainably developed
India,” Majhi affirmed.
As Odisha attracts new opportunities and deepens its engagement with
national and global investors, it stands poised to become a major force in
India’s tech, education, and industrial growth stories.
