Salman Khan’s Eid Release Struggles Despite Crossing ₹100 Crore Mark!
Salman Khan’s much-hyped Eid release, Sikandar, is facing a bumpy ride at
the box office. Despite crossing the coveted ₹100 crore milestone, the film is
now staring at significant losses as audience interest continues to wane.
On Day 10, Sikandar earned just ₹1.35 crore, taking its total domestic
collection to ₹105.6 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. What began
with a promising Day 1 has steadily declined, with each passing day bringing
steeper drops in revenue.
The film’s performance was marred from the get-go due to piracy — the full
movie was leaked online on the day of release, denting its earnings right out
of the gate. However, critics and fans haven’t been kind either, with
mixed-to-negative reviews further hampering its run.
After a decent first-week haul of ₹90.25 crore, Sikandar showed a flicker of
hope over the weekend, pulling in ₹4 crore on Saturday and ₹4.75 crore on
Sunday. But the momentum didn’t last long — Monday saw a sharp 63% drop to
₹1.75 crore, followed by Tuesday’s continued slide. The Hindi occupancy rate on
Tuesday stood at a mere 8.36%, signaling dwindling viewer interest.
Interestingly, the film’s makers claimed a global collection of ₹200.93
crore on Tuesday via social media. But Sacnilk reports paint a different
picture, placing the worldwide total at ₹171.65 crore — a notable discrepancy
that raises eyebrows.
Comparisons are inevitable, and Sikandar seems to be falling short when
placed next to this year’s blockbuster Chhaava starring Vicky Kaushal. In just
10 days, Chhaava raked in a massive ₹326.75 crore domestically — more than
triple Sikandar’s earnings in the same timeframe.
With collections slowing to a crawl and competition heating up, Sikandar may
struggle to find redemption at the box office unless a miracle turn of events
boosts footfalls.
