Indian-Origin Woman Tragically Dies on Melbourne-Delhi Flight

Manpreet Kaur, Excited to Reunite with Family After Four Years, Passes Away Mid-Flight

In a heartbreaking incident, Manpreet Kaur, a 24-year-old Indian-origin woman, passed away on a Qantas Airways flight from Melbourne to Delhi. Manpreet, who had been eagerly anticipating reuniting with her family after over four years, fell ill shortly after boarding the flight on June 20.

According to reports, Manpreet struggled to fasten her seatbelt before collapsing on the floor. Despite immediate assistance from the cabin crew and emergency services, she tragically passed away on the spot. It is believed that tuberculosis, a lung infection, was the cause of her sudden death.

Manpreet had moved to Australia in March 2020 and was making her first trip back to New Delhi to see her family. Qantas Airways expressed their condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones,” and confirmed that emergency assistance was provided promptly.

In the wake of her passing, Manpreet’s friend Gurdip Grewal set up a GoFundMe page to support her family. The campaign successfully raised $31,662 AUD, surpassing the initial target of $30,000 AUD, thanks to the generosity of 824 donors. Gurdip's message on the page reflects the profound loss felt by Manpreet's friends and family: “Our dear friend Manpreet left us too soon, leaving a void in our lives that can never be filled.”

Manpreet's untimely death has left her community mourning, as they come together to remember her and support her loved ones during this difficult time.
