A tense confrontation unfolded in Odisha's Bargarh district as Maoists clashed with security forces, triggering a gunfight.

The skirmish occurred deep within the dense forests of Gandhamardan Hills, specifically in the Paikmal police station area, following a tip-off received by the elite Special Operations Group (SOG) and the District Voluntary Force (DVF). On Monday at around 5:40 pm, as security forces approached, Maoist insurgents opened fire, prompting a swift response. Despite the intense exchange of gunfire, the Maoists managed to evade capture, fleeing the scene.

Police subsequently conducted a thorough search of the area and discovered several items. While no injuries or casualties were reported from the encounter, authorities have escalated their search efforts by deploying additional forces. The operation remains ongoing as security forces continue their pursuit of the Maoist group in the region.
