Fake Auto Parts Racket Busted in Bhubaneswar; Goods Worth ₹15 Lakh Seized
Counterfeit engine oil and spare parts of top brands recovered; two
detained as probe intensifies.
Bhubaneswar: In a major crackdown on counterfeit automobile products, the
Commissionerate Police have busted an illegal unit manufacturing fake
automobile spare parts and spurious lubricating engine oil at Rajarani Colony
under Baragada police limits in Bhubaneswar.
Acting on a complaint filed by a franchise owner, the police conducted a raid at the facility and uncovered large quantities of duplicate Castrol engine oil along with counterfeit spare parts branded as TVS and Honda. The seized fake products are estimated to be worth around ₹15 lakh. Following the raid, the factory was sealed, and further investigations are underway.
"We have detained two persons in connection with the case and are
probing the involvement of others. Though the detained individuals claim that
the proprietor is currently in Russia, we suspect this could be a tactic to
mislead us," said Trupti Ranjan Nayak, Inspector-in-Charge of Badagada
police station.
Authorities have urged vehicle owners to exercise caution while purchasing
spare parts and engine oil, as substandard products could lead to severe engine
damage. The investigation is ongoing to unearth the full extent of the racket
and nab all those involved.
