Hemant Soren Poised for Return as Jharkhand Chief Minister
Champai Soren to Resign, Paving the Way
for Hemant Soren's Comeback After Bail Release
In a significant political development, Hemant Soren
is set to return as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, following his release on
bail. Current Chief Minister Champai Soren is expected to resign, clearing the
path for Soren's reinstatement. The formalities for the new government
formation will commence immediately.
This decision was solidified during a meeting of the
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led alliance at Champai Soren's residence,
attended by Hemant Soren and Congress's Jharkhand in-charge, Ghulam Ahmed Mir.
A JMM leader confirmed, "Chief Minister Champai Soren is likely to resign
tonight, and the formalities for the new government formation will begin
accordingly."
Champai Soren assumed office on February 2, just days
after Hemant Soren was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on January
31 for alleged involvement in a land scam and money laundering. Hemant Soren,
who was imprisoned for five months, walked free after being granted bail by the
Jharkhand High Court on June 28.
Throughout his ordeal, Hemant Soren has consistently
maintained his innocence, claiming he was falsely implicated and that a conspiracy
was orchestrated to keep him in prison. He has accused the central government
of targeting those who dare to raise their voices against it.
