Nirmala Sitharaman to Present Union Budget During Budget Session 2024

The upcoming Budget Session 2024, scheduled from July 22 to August 12, will see Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presenting the Union Budget in the Lok Sabha on July 23. This marks the first budget of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's third term, eagerly awaited amid expectations of significant economic and social policy announcements.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju announced the session dates following approval from the Hon'ble President of India. He emphasized that the session's agenda, subject to parliamentary business exigencies, includes the presentation of crucial legislative and financial matters.

The anticipation for this budget is heightened by President Droupadi Murmu's recent address to Parliament, where she promised historic initiatives and major economic decisions. President Murmu highlighted the forthcoming budget as pivotal, indicating it will outline the government's comprehensive policies and futuristic vision.

Nirmala Sitharaman, India's first full-time woman Finance Minister, will present her seventh budget, having previously introduced significant reforms and policies since assuming office in July 2019. Her tenure has been marked by innovative changes, such as replacing the traditional budget briefcase with a 'bahi-khata' adorned with the National Emblem in 2019.

Under Sitharaman's stewardship, India's budgetary processes have evolved, reflecting modern administrative practices. Her budgets have been instrumental in addressing economic challenges and fostering growth across sectors, cementing her role as a pivotal figure in the country's economic policy landscape.

As the Budget Session approaches, stakeholders across sectors eagerly await the unveiling of Modi 3.0's fiscal roadmap, expecting it to navigate the challenges of a rapidly evolving global and domestic economic environment.
